Kanye West’s “Yeezus,” Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories,” and Lorde’s “Pure Heroine” are all major releases,  but “The  Music  of Grand Theft Auto V” is one that probably flew under most people’s radar. Instead of opting for a ranked list, here’s our take on those that are must-hears. You ain’t got the answers Sway!

Joey Badass – 1999

Like fellow Brooklynites A Tribe Called Quest, @joeyBADASS_ rhymes over jazzy beats yet from a much darker perspective. The “1999” mixtape is classic hip-hop, with production by J. Dilla, MF Doom, and others, and samples of everything from Tupac to LL Cool J’s “Doin it.” Listen closely and you can even hear Pinky and the Brain on “World Domination.”

He might be only 17, but he’s got the wise mind of a 30-year old. New York has the Knicks. Brooklyn has the Nets. Uptown has A$AP Rocky, and now Brooklyn has Joey Badass. Next up? For sure.
