Bad Rabbits – Human Nature (Michael Jackson cover)

These guys were definitely one of the best bands at Afro Punk 2012. Originally from Boston, they are great rock music that defies genre classification. Makes sense given that their influences are funk, disco, and new jack swing.

With smooth vocals by lead singer Dua Boakye, one might compare them to anyone from Creed to Bobby Brown–pre-Whitney, “My Prerogative,” Bobby Brown. Their Facebook page has more info.

Perhaps the Smashing Pumpkins would also be honored by their “1979″ cover?

The Labor Day Weekend Playlist

Trillectro has already passed, but the concept was inspiring: hip-hop+electronica. This weekend Jay-Z will be in Philly at the Made in America Festival, where the lineup is more of the same (see above).

We wanted to expand on the concept with a smooth playlist for Labor Day Weekend. Tracks by Gotye, Frank Ocean, Lady Gaga, Lana del Rey, Nas, Amy Winehouse, A$AP Rocky, Inky Jack, and more.

Happy Labor Day Weekend, and as always…keep it trill.
